This is a photograph of the 1949 Thornbury Junior Football (Rugby) Team who won the Western Districts Second Grade Competition (under 21 competition). The team played 12 games, winning all of them and earning a total of 160 points to only 42 against them.

About the Thornbury Rugby Club:

Thornbury did not have a dedicated rugby ground, instead matches were played in the paddock next to the recreation grounds which were located in the area that is now (2018) the Thornbury Bowling Club.
