About this object

Framed painting of Roxburgh Museum donated by Mrs Valma Brown (maiden name Baillie), a granddaughter of Henry Baillie (born Scotland) and Margaret Baillie (nee Johns from England) who set up home in Roxburgh in 1877. Henry, a boot and shoe maker, was Mayor of Roxburgh from 1894-1898.

Valma's father, David Baillie was Postmaster at Roxburgh and after his retirement an orchardist at Roxburgh East. David and Rebecca's other children were Tello, Nina Waigth, Freda Rogers, Leslie (Jack), Aubrey, Ivan, Edna Hanley, and Norma Williams.
