Name/Title

Photograph, Coal Creek School circa 1909

About this object

Coal Creek School was established in 1884 and this photograph was taken in 1909 of the enrolment at that time.

The school started as a private school with 4 pupils - Robert, Hanet and Anna Craig and Henry Albert Tamblyn.

As the population grew it became a public school and was consolidated with the Roxburgh District High School in 1931.

Much of the success of the Coal Creek Football Club can be traced back to the early training the players received at the school.

In later years the building was enlarged and became the Coal Creek Hall and in 2015 the headquarters of the Roxburgh and Districts Lions Club.
