About this object

This Eddystone 770R VHF communications receiver was made by Stratton and Company in Birmingham, England in 1954 and receives AM and FM signals. It was primarily designed for the commercial and governmental agencies to monitor shipping and aircraft communications.

The signal was located by the operator turning the flywheel on the front, the frequency indicated in the glass panel display above, though being valve operated it would take a while to warm up.
