This is a Phllips 634A English 1933 advanced 'super inductance' TRF receiver. The radio incorporates very efficient tuning coils with glass formers and is claimed to have selectivity equal to that of a superhetrodyne receiver. The radio features a magnet moving coil speaker, diode detector and automatic gain control.

The Phillips 634A was known as 'The Ovaltiney' set in Britain as one featured in each episode of the BBC television series 'The Ovaltinies'.
