About this object

This is an Ecko SW86 English medium frequency and shortwave 6 valve radio set. It is unique for an Ecko receiver because it uses American type valves as these were more popular in New Zealand than European types.

Industrial designer, Serge Chermayaff, designed the art deco style cabinet and it is understood that this particular model was made especially for the New Zealand market.
