About this object

This Ballins Breweries Commemorative Jug was produced for their centenary 1878 - 1978. Ballins was a Christchurch aerated water manufacturer established by Bernhard Ballin in 1878 manufacturing sparkling soft drinks, wine, quinine and cordials. It is glazed light brown with patches of dark brown. On the front of the jug is a circle incorporating the name Ballins with the dates 1878 - 1978 and on the back has two horses pulling a cart laden with 14 wine barrels. In 1975 Ballin merged with Coco-Cola and Schweppes.
