Cash registerAbout this object
National cash register, number 969753 462. Ornate silver coloured metal cash register with a wooden base under the cash drawer. There are two longitudinal windows across the top, one to show the type of transaction and the other to show the amount to both operator and client. On the front, facing the operator, are a series of push buttons to record the types of transactions and the amount in pounds, shillings and pence including half pence. A handle on the side is missing and this would be used to open the cash drawer, which cannot be opened now. The marble plate on top of the cash drawer is broken in several places. On the left where the paper rolls to record the transactions would be placed is an ornate cover. This cover has a flap that opens out.
