About this object

Columned ledger showing trading transactions in 1876 and 1877. The ledger records purchases and payments. It lists the customer's name, occupation and district at the top of the page. The date is in the first column with "To Goods" and "Pay Cash" and amount owing. There is no mention of the name of the store or type of goods purchased.
Customers include Nee Lee Chinese Shop Keeper, Bannockburn, Ah Loy Chinese Gardner, Bannockburn, Charlie Angel, Hotel Keeper Carricktown, Edward McNulty, Coal Pit Propr Cromwell and Mrs Stumbles, Widow Cromwell Flats. There are also entries from Queenstown, Dunedin, Bendigo, Quartsville, Ophir etc
An indented alphabetical list of customers and their numbers has come adrift but would formerly been glued onto the back inside cover.
It was one of two books donated together in a box, the other is a Day Book from a haberdashery type store (CR2003.002). An invoice/statement from Belfast Store was inserted between the pages (CR2003.001.2b) which may indicate the ledger was from the Belfast Store.
