AuthorAbout this object
A 100 page book including many black and white and colour photographs telling the long history in New Zealand of the Mangos family and in particular the story of Leo Patrick Mangos. This begins with his Greek heritage and the family growing up in Cromwell during the war years.
Leo became a carpet layer and was apprenticed to a Mr. Ferris. When Leo was 18 years old he was called up for Compulsory Military Training but had damaged his knee earlier so marching was out and instead became a cook. Leo married Margaret in 1956 and they went on to have four children and lived in Cromwell for many years. Leo had careers in the carpet trade, politics, horticulture and the NZ Labour party.
