About this object
A black and white studio portrait of Mrs Gavin Cullen, taken with a rather elaborate background and props (she is standing near a live palm tree).
We are basing this identification on the name that appears on the reverse of the photograph and know from Gore District Council cemetery records, that Mrs Gavin Cullen was Helen J Stewart. It appears that the Cullen's lived in Belfast, Northern Ireland before coming to Mataura. They were married 11 December 1890, in Scotland.
