About this object

Letter; sympathy letter dated 2 April 1943 from Allan Priestly Thomson to Clara Catherine Quilter on the death of her husband, Thomas George Quilter. Thomas died in Algeria on 20 February 1943 while deployed as a bomb disposal officer with the Royal Engineers during Operation Torch. Allan Priestly Thomson was Thomas' colleague and section officer while Thomas was with the 11th Forestry Company of the second N.Z.E.F. A.P. Thomson went on to become the Director General of the N.Z. Forest Service in the early 1970s.
