Name/Title

Badge, Royal Engineers, British Army

About this object

Badge; Royal Engineers 'economy' cap badge issued by the British Army during World War Two. This was part of Hugh Brown McConnell's World War Two memorabilia. Hugh was a driver in the New Zealand Army. We suspect he kept this badge because his brother in law, Thomas George Quilter was killed while serving as a bomb disposal officer with the Royal Engineers. We are not sure if this is Thomas' cap badge.

Hugh lived in Mataura most of his life; here is a link to his interesting life story.
