Photograph [Dixon's Threshing Machine]
About this object
A black and white photograph of the Dixon family's threshing machine at work, in the 1920s. Please refer to our book 'Mataura City of the Falls' at pp 242 and 243 for a fuller account of the Dixon family's links to Mataura.
Both Tom and Forest (Forrie) Dixon had strong associations with traction engines. In 1908 they bought their first one, a 4 h.p Burrell. They became something of a legend, and their threshing mill and chaff cutting services covered a wide area, until they went their own ways.
