About this object

Photograph; 2 of 16 from an album of black and white photographs taken in the 1920s and 1930s showing various aspects of the Mataura Paper Mill. This photograph was taken in 1930 and shows the outfall from the Mill's Hydro Turbine.

The note for this photograph states the stain on the exterior wall is from the Mill's governor servo oil cooler. The small boat in the Mataura River, near bottom left of picture, was used by the chief engineer William Maclean when he charted the bed of the River from the hydro outfall to the town bridge.
