About this objectA black and white photograph of Pensioner's Pool on the Mataura River at Tuturau taken by John Hannabus in the late 1950s. The rock in the image is known locally as shag rock. John gave this image to us to record how the lower Mataura was once heavily lined with willows, most of which have since been removed for flood control purposes.
