About this object
Haversack; a khaki canvas haversack, ex army issue, as used by Civil Defence Wardens. It has a webbing shoulder strap, a red cross painted on the front flap and 'CD 28' stencilled on the front and the number '5' on the back. 28 was the area of Mataura east of Mataura River. This bag was used by Ian McKelvie from 1962 in his role as Civil Defence Warden for area 28.
