About this object

Girl Guide belt and knife which belonged to Mataura guide leader, Mrs Jean Neilson (nee McKenzie). The Mataura Guides began in 1928 and continued until fairly recently. Jean Neilson was a girl guide leader in Edendale before moving to Mataura in 1963 where she volunteered as a Brownie leader and badge tester.

on one side of the knife shaft is a scene depicting cowboys and indians
