Photograph [Mataura Paper Mill, 1890s]
About this object
A black and white photograph of the Mataura Paper Mill taken from the west bank of the Mataura River dating sometime between 1894 and 1898.
It was likely that the photograph was taken to record the major reconstruction of the Mill between 1891 and 1894. The photographs shows the new Mill buildings, water race, sluice and flood gates. John H. Angus' book Papermaking Pioneers (pp56-61) has more detailed information about this phase of the Mill's development.
