Coffee pot and lid - Novelle patternAbout this object
Coffee pot with bevelled base and straight sides. Sage green colourglaze with onglaze wraparound transfer of shaded grid pattern in darker green. Clear glaze inside. Sage green lid with round indented flat topped knob and indented bevelled rim.
A ‘Novelle’ coffee pot from the ‘Shape twenty-5’ range and decorated with a silk screen geometric design in green on an oyster colourglaze background. The ‘Novelle’ pattern came from the 1967 Crown Lynn design award winning work by Peter Gibbs. It was produced on the new ‘Shape twenty-5’ earthenware range introduced by David Jenkin and Tam Mitchell to mark the 25th anniversary of Crown Lynn's founding.
The range, with its stylish straight sides, tapered bases, and modern silk screen designs, was instantly popular. 'Time Out', another Peter Gibbs design, and 'Carnaby', designed by Colin Simon, were launched on coffee sets at the same time.
