About this object
This is a photograph of David Clark's prizewinning Clydsdale, Tam O'Shanter.
Tam won at least nine first prizes and was a five times champion of local horse competitions including winning first in the Stallion category at the 1904 & 1905 Wallace A&P Show.
Tam's owner, David Clark, originally from Heddon Bush later shifted to Otautau and was the President of the Wallace A&P Show for 1904 & 1905. In 1906, Wright, Stephenson & Co., sold Tam on behalf of David, to Mr E. Roberts of Victoria for around 800 pounds.
