Kauri gum
About this object
Kauri gum; a piece of kauri gum.
During the 19th and early 20th centuries kauri gum provided an important mining industry throughout the Coromandel Peninsula. It was exported to London and America, where its main use was in the manufacture of varnish, and later linoleum.
