Photograph [Margaret and Mary Flood]

About this object

This black and white photograph pictures Margaret and Mary Flood, the daughters of Frances Louisa Clendon and Robert Patrick Flood. Margaret is pictured in the background standing in profile and wearing a dark dress, while her younger sister is pictured seated in a cane chair. It is possible that the photograph was taken at Clendon House, the childhood home of their mother who was the daughter of Captain James Reddy and Jane Takotowi Clendon (nee Cochrane).

Margaret was born on 14 November 1898 in the Hokianga region. She married Florence Daniel Donovan on 10 April 1928 in Okaihau. Margaret’s younger sister, Mary, was born 15 August 1906 in Te Puke. They also had two brothers, Thomas and George, as well as an older sister, Kitty.
