About this object
This watercolour painting is a portrait of Clara Emily Clendon. Clara was born on 14 April 1866 and was the daughter of Captain James Reddy and Jane Takotowi Clendon (nee Cochrane). In this image, Clara is pictured wearing a high-necked dress and a golden locket necklace. Her hair is loose and is partially tied up with a black ribbon tied in a bow.
Clara married Andrew Webster on 19 February 1885 at Herd’s Point Church in Hokianga. They had three children: Frederick, James Reddy and Edith May.
