Human hair samples
About this object
Two locks of blonde human hair; attached to paper, in three lines. The first line has the hand-written text 'Aged 5 years 1[?] month, and the initials H.D.A; the second line has the text 'Aged 3 years 8[?] months, and the initials E.T.A; the third line has the text 'Aged 1 year 6 weeks' and the initials F.E.A. The lock of hair from the third line is missing. Reverse of the paper reads 'For dear Fanny, August 4[?]th 1862.
The hair belonged to Harry Dunstan Atkinson, Edmund Tudor Atkinson, and Frances Elizabeth Atkinson, three of the four children of Sir Harry Atkinson and his first wife Amelia Jane Atkinson.
