About this object
Mantel mirror; a landscape-oriented mantel mirror with a wooden frame with ribbed edging. On the top edge is a pierced scrolling design monogrammed in the centre 'AKT' for Allan Kerr Taylor.
This item is an original family piece, having once belonged to Allan Kerr Taylor. Allan Kerr Taylor was a wealthy landowner and businessman who played a central role in the financial and social life of early Auckland. He purchased the land at Alberton in 1849, aged only 16.
