About this object

This book entitled ‘A Text-Book of Musical Knowledge (Part I)’ belonged to Muriel Kerr Taylor. This book was used by Muriel in preparation for sitting the Trinity College of Music’s junior division music exam.

Muriel’s mother, Sophia Kerr Taylor, was very musically talented and she encouraged her four daughters to follow in her footsteps. Often, Muriel and her sisters would perform in their local church’s annual social or “soiree” and fundraising concerts as well as other musical recitals. (1)
