Hei Pounamu, (tangiwai/bowenite pendant)
About this object
This tangiwai, hei pounamu is very unusual in its shape with the rounded spur projecting out from it. It is thought that it could be in the shape of a whale-tail, fish or whale form using the hole as eye, or the profile of a whale tooth.
There is a similar piece on the Te Papa Tongarewa website.
