About this object

This image likely links to the Moss family and is one of number of photos found with papers relating to that family.

We believe this material relates to the descendants of Ruapuke Islanders George Teoti Moss and Susanna Kirihauka, both born around 1820. Other family names associated with their descendants are; Ropata, Coupar, Joss, Green, Sutherland, Ballantyne, West, Te Mahana, Davis.

Sadly, a previous museum associate passed away before they had completed their research into these photos. Until further information arises we are unable to positively identify the people in the photos and are instead associating them with the families listed above in the hope that we can compile the required information at a later date.
