About this objectThis photograph is of the More's box factory, at Longwood. Western Southland was extensively logged, and during this period several enterprises in the vicinity of Riverton produced packing boxes for a range of products, particularly dairy. White pine in particular was prized as the wood did not taint the butter or cheese it housed.
