About this object
A black and white photograph, posted as a letter, with a six pence stamp and address on the reverse of this photo, it was sent to: Mrs B Smith, c/o Mrs J Gardiner, Storekeeper, Otautau.
Jesse Lawson married John Gardiner in 1883 and in a Western Star bankruptcy article in 14 Dec 1889, it mentions that Mrs Gardiner had her own store, against her husband's will and interest. Harrington Bros Mill and also Southland Timber Co were local mills around this time, near Otautau.
