About this object
Frank Forrester Adamson was born on the 9th of January 1892, in Orepuki. His parents James and Edith were prominent members of the bustling township, and in 1897 they opened a drapery shop there, at 22 Dover Street.
Frank was the 6th of 9 children. When he was young, the family moved to Invercargill and Frank attended Southland Boys High School. Frank completed further study in Dunedin, graduating in 1914 with a Master of Arts with Honours. He went on to teach at Ashburton High School.
At the end of 1914, Frank was called for service in WWI. Five months later he was dead, killed in action during the battle of Gallipoli. Frank died on the 1st of May 1915, aged 23.
