About this object

A copy of the smallest dictionary in the world, the Miniature Bryce's English Dictionary. It is bound in red leather with gold tooled title and lives inside a locket case with a magnifying lens set into the front to aid in reading the tiny writing.

It was printed and published in Glasgow. Many Scots emigrated to Southland in the late 19th Century so this may have been brought over by someone who settled here.
