About this objectParliamentarian Charles Clifford was born in Mount Vernon, Lancashire, England in 1813. After attending Stonyhurst College, he established himself in Wellington, setting up a shipping and commissions agency with his cousin. Clifford was a captain in the Wellington militia, and a justice of the peace in 1884, and a magistrate in 1846.
