About this objectWellington artist, Melvin (Pat) Day 1923-2016, was at the forefront of developments in abstraction and cubism during the 1940’s and 1950’s. He also served as the director of the National Art Gallery from 1968-1978, leaving after a decade to take up the position of Government Art Historian.
