About this object

Artist, Julia B. Lynch was a "Sister of Mercy" and assumed the name Mary Lawrence. She taught at St. Mary's College in Wellington, where Pamela Moody was a pupil. She painted the portrait of Pamela when she was about age 17. According to the donor, her brother, it was meant to depict Pamela when she was older. The portrait was commissioned by the subject's mother in 1970, her final year at school.
