Irene Ferguson ; Russell Kleyn; 2007 (neg) 2011; 2011.011
This landscape portrait of Irene Ferguson was taken outside her studio above the now demolished Wellington Market shortly after her return to live in Wellington from New York City. Kleyn's aim was to create a contemplative portrait of Irne looking back into her creative space, back on her development, and contemplating her future as a blossoming artist.
Russell Kleyn is a photographer based in Wellington. He is originally from Cape Town, South Africa where he studied graphic design at the University of Stellenbosch. He gained vast photographic experience while living in London for 12 years, completing his Post Graduate Certificate in Photography at Central Saint Martins College of Art. Russell's portraiture is united by a strong impressionistic eye and a weighty psychology in his use of lighting.
