About this object
After World War One, when the Influenza Epidemic swept around the world in November 1918, all public gatherings had been forbidden in an effort to contain the outbreak. As a result it was not possible to formally celebrate the end of the War until June the following year. Miss Ivy Gordon who was a photographer in Cambridge from 1918 to 1920 took this photo of the Peace Celebrations held in Cambridge on 19 June 1919.
