Photograph, Early BluffAbout this object
This is a photograph of Bluff in 1880. James Spencer was the first Pākehā to settle Bluff in 1824. The original wharf, seen in the photograph, was built in the 1860s and linked to Invercargill by railway in 1867. The establishment of the wharf and railway line solidified Bluff as one of New Zealand's most important import and export ports.Place Made
