Canned Foods, Ozone Oysters
About this object
This is a can of Ozone brand oysters, harvested from the Foveaux Strait then processed, cooked and canned in Invercargill.
The canning of oysters extended the viability of the product so that it could be stored for longer and shipped to markets further afield. Oysters are unusual in the fishing industry as they are normally harvested and sold numerically but when they were canned they were sold by weight.
