Esther James Promotional Booklet

About this object

Esther James walked the length of New Zealand to promote NZ made goods.
On Friday May 20, 1932 walked into Waimate ‘at a smart pace’ as part of her NZ length walk to promote New Zealand made goods and improve trade during the depression - eating only local food and wearing only NZ made clothes. She was greeted by a large crowd including Mayor George Dash who proclaimed that this was “probably the best town she would know from the North Cape to the Bluff.”
The Waimate Archives holds a copy of her promotional booklet.
