About this objectThis old hop press was still in use until about three years ago used at the farm in Old House Road, Upper Moutere. The centre pole would be wound down, gradually pressing the hops into the large sacks. The depth of the well was at least 22 feet (670cm) deep. The press was manufactured by J Kershaw of Nelson using railway lines.
