Coal Basket
About this objectBelieved to be the only one of its kind left in New Zealand and is over one hundred years old, this coal basket is made of locally grown supplejack vines. It is thought to have been made by Mr J McLaren, Port Nelson. The baskets were used to transfer bulk coal from the ship to wharf.
