Name/Title

Petticoat, Baby's Woollen with Bullion Stitch

About this object

This is a fine wool baby's sleeveless petticoat. It features crochet picot edging around the neckline and sleeve openings and may well have been made up from a commercially available printed pattern, with the base for the picot edge being preformed onto the fabric. The side seams are French seams, which would have prevented fraying.

We have three very similar items, which were donated together. This petticoat features a bullion stitch motif at chest and hemline.
