About this object

This is a photograph of William Osborne Closs McKay, known as Ossie, who was the son of Robert Malcolm and Helen McKay.

Born 21 August, 1885, Ossie's parents and his uncle, David McKay, owned the R.M. McKay & Co General Store and Merchants which was on the main street of Wyndham. Established in 1879, Ossie took on the business when his father died in 1920.

Ossie died in 1939 and his children Robert Malcolm (Bob) and Sarah Marjory (Madge) took over the business.

As of January 2019, the McKay Family Store building remains on the main street of Wyndham with the company name still on it.
