About this objectThis electric iron was made in New Zealand by H C Urlwin Ltd. The company was based in Christchurch and created the Speedee range which originally included an electric jug, a kettle, a toaster, an immersion heater, an iron and a heater. However, this iron appears to be a later model. H C Urlwin Ltd closed in 1968 when it was bought out by PDL Industries.

Heel rest has a plaque with words '600 WATTS' in is right top corner.
In the middle of the plaque in large lettering is the word 'Speedee' with 'MADE IN' above it and 'NEW ZEALAND' below it. In the lower left corner of the plaque is the words '240 VOLTS'. The background of the plaque has a lightening bolt in the center and lines indicating speed around the word 'Speedee'.
On the sole plate there is a white sticker with faded black in lettering reading: 'WY'
