Annual Gathering of the Bands of Hope, marked on page 3: N. E. Valley, Baptist, Sunday School. This book is in celebration of the 36th Anniversary of the Auckland Band of Hope Union which was held in the Town Hall, Auckland on Saturday 3 June 1916 and Monday 5 June 1916. On the upper front cover is this message:
"War is exposing the enemy of the race - alcohol
The King has banished alcohol from his household - vide cables
Russia had banished Vodka - France has abolished Absinthe"
