About this object

This is a Programme for the Magpie Concert Costume Party, held at the Theatre Royal, Gore on 5 December 1917.

The Programme includes a "Laughing Chorus", the 'Colonial Goosestep', a 'Midnight Frolic' by the Pyjama Girls, and was rounded off an Operatic Finale followed by "God Save the King". Patrons were asked, "The Returned Soldiers have done a lot for you; do a little for them. If you cannot attend, buy some tickets".

The Museum also holds a photograph of the Magpies in costume.
