Name/Title

Diary, Adam Hunter

About this object

This is the 1881 diary of Adam Hunter, a farmer from South Wyndham. Though the diary was designed for the year 1872, Adam has adapted it to his needs, using it in 1880-1881 by crossing out the dates and days and amending them to the days in which he was writing. In the diary, Adam has recorded the weather, his daily farming activities, accounting and on occasion the activities of his family.

Adam farmed at Greenhill, South Wyndham with his wife Margaret and their six children, Thomas, John, Helen, William, Adam and Henderson. He died in 1888, aged 60, and is buried in the Wyndham cemetery.
