This is a mounted stereograph with the title 'A sheltered bay Milford Sound New Zealand' by George Rose, taken approximately 1906.

George Rose (1861-1942) was a Melbourne photographer who spent months touring New Zealand in 1906 and published the resulting stereographs in a series numbered 7000 to 7584.

The museum has a stereoscope in a box named 'Souvenir Of the New Zealand Exhibition 1906, Rose's World-Famous Stereoscopic Views, Gems of New Zealand Scenery' in the Kapai Series, as supplied to the NZ Government Tourist Dept. It is possible that this stereograoh was purchased alongside this stereoscope. (see WY.0000.808)
